This was a creative experiment: I wanted to recreate the cinematic style of Apple’s product ads using Blender and After Effects. The project was a chance to push myself in 3D modeling, lighting, and motion compositing.
scope of work
I modeled a near realistic iPhone shell in Blender based on online references, added procedural shaders for realism, and built a minimal but dramatic lighting system. From there, I choreographed camera movement, transitions, and keyframe timing to match the tone of real Apple ads.
development
Blender was used for all modeling, lighting, and camera animation. I rendered using Cycles with denoising and composited passes in After Effects. In AE, I added subtle post effects like motion blur, color grading, and text transitions. I synced the visuals with sound effects for tactile feedback.
challenges & solutions
Lighting realism was one of the hardest parts, I wanted that signature Apple look, soft shadows, sharp reflections, and high contrast without being overexposed. I solved this by using a 3-light rig with emissive planes and tweaking the surface roughness to just the right level.
Outcome
The final video captures a sleek, high-end feel, something I’m proud of as a solo creator with limited hardware. I published it as a portfolio piece, and it’s now a strong visual to pair with my technical projects, showing I can cross between dev and design when needed.
